Meg Fatharly - print artist
Instagram: @printcessmeg https://www.instagram.com/printcessmeg/?hl=en
Meg is a print artist mostly working with collage, embossing and drawing. I love her text and image work, incorporating messages into her designs. Her hand-done, almost awkward style is unique and beautiful. Her work really inspires me to experiment with embossing and more printing techniques.
Popshot Quarterly - illustrated literature publication
Instagram: @popshotmag https://www.instagram.com/popshotmag/?hl=en
Popshot is a beautifully illustrated publication of short stories, flash fiction and poetry. I love it’s Instagram account too, as the feed is full of diverse and interesting illustrations and designs.
Jesse Treece - collage artist
Instagram: @jessetreececollage https://www.instagram.com/jessetreececollage/?hl=en
Jesse is a collage artist who makes work by hand. I love the surrealism of the collages, all with narratives to make the viewer look harder and think deeper. The account is full of inspiring design.
Kel Lauren - graphic designer
You Tube: Kel Lauren https://www.youtube.com/kellauren
Instagram: @kel.lauren https://www.instagram.com/kel.lauren/
Website: https://www.kellylaurendesign.com
“Kel Lauren is a Creative Director and Graphic Designer based in Portland, OR. specialising in merchandise design. Kel has their Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM LA — ‘16)”
Kel's youtube account is great for detailed videos that are full of tips for graphic design and designers in all aspects of the job, including websites, professional development, logos, merchandise and posters.
The videos I find most helpful are the "redesign" videos, where Kel redesigns logos and brands. Kel shows the whole process of redesigning - describing their initial thoughts, their research into the brand, their mood boards and then the process of producing the design. I find this especially important because it gives me professional tips on how to develop my ideas and practices.
